Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen es una cantante, compositora y pianista Finlandesa, famosa por su participación como vocalista del conjunto de Metal Sinfónico Nightwish, que fundó junto a sus compañeros Tuomas Holopainen y Emppu Vuorinen en 1996. Durante 2005, Tarja es expulsada de la banda por diferencias con el resto de sus miembros, siendo reemplazada posteriormente, en 2007 por la sueca Anette Olzon.
Tarja es una de las cantantes más populares de su género en la mayor parte de Europa. Desde 1996, ha lanzado ocho álbumes de estudio (seis junto a Nightwish y dos como solista), gozando de gran popularidad en Finlandia, donde ha realizado múltiples apariciones en TV. Gracias a su carrera solista, Tarja ha sido nominada en dos ocasiones a los Emma Awards (equivalentes finlandeses al Grammy en 2006 y 2007), recientemente fue nominada a un Grammy 2009 por su colaboración con el artista Schiller. Su perfil vocal corresponde a Soprano Lírica, con una tesitura de tres octavas.
